Wow! A master at age 15! Inspiring to say the least.
I love this. Very funny. There have got to be more. You have inspired a nice quest. Thanks for posting.
He was a very great artist whatever his sexual orientation was.
He was also Gay, and in his early days in florence was 'helped' by the medici family who managed to get charges dropped when he was supposedly caught in the act (intolerant and ignorant times, being gay was punished severley)
I don't think that one can deduce John Singer Sargent's sexuality from his paintings. It's pure speculation.
Very fascinating reading about how other artists treat their work and deal with things. Three weeks worth of work destroyed just like that, the sign of a perfectionist.
Haha! The best way to draw perfect eyes is to learn how to draw perfect eyes! Why didn't I think of this!
I like points of this paints and characteristic
Interesting...I'm not keen on boxes either, but they're quite useful when you're doing something and can't seem to find an already existing term that fits it.
Funny, I was just wondering yesterday if there were many artists who were using printed digital media as part of 3D pieces. I sometimes feel an urge to make my digital works "live".
I love this nude art.........It is posible to recibed up dates of work art, thank you very much.....
I think it's ridiculous the question even gets posed! Regardless of your view on his work, it's only those trying to protect art like the diamond dealers stash their diamonds that would think like this through fear. The true soldier artists of the next generation are out there working hard, as another art evolution is upon us and scary to the old skool I know. But embrace it all. Russell Scott-Skinner
Love the old masters...how could yoy not?
I do not see that connection!!! He was a genius who happened to be loved by women even when he was still very poor and trying to survive, not having money for oil to heat up his studio. I really cannot understand nor share the obsession with him being a womanizer! Nobody forced these wife's/women to stay with him. He lived his Art.
- Written by a woman and an artist!
So many of the greatest artisans have been homosexual. There is something that we currently do not understand about gay people scientifically in this way, but so many of them are such incredible artists.
It seems very obvious that Sargent was a homosexual, from his history and lifestyle, as well as his paintings. Though, just because someone paints nudes, does not mean anything about his/her sexuality necessarily. That said, the combination of evidence seems quite obvious that Sargent was another highly talented homosexual man. Great article!!
hi - is it just me !! can any one explain why when i type in the bing browser "webartacademy.com" i get a different site yet whe i type it in google its ok? could this be a bug in my system or is any one else having same probs ?
alf
That wasn't a job. But that was great money back then.
Very nice ,great see all masters palette. Thank you.
I love it.thank you.
Let's not be coy. We can "not see" what we see or we can see what we see. The great painter without a doubt liked his subjects very much.
Wow this is really a great article..... just saying.....
